| Just a teaser for one of my cocktail dresses. |
In the spirit of finding my destiny and fulfilling my personal mission in life (besides being a mom and wife), I am embarking on a new adventure. My next project is one that has been close to my heart for ovee 20 years and anxiously waiting for at least 13 of those years. The first gown that I designed was for the Miss Fair Oaks (CA) Pageant when I was 17 years old. A wonderful friend made it for me and I felt like a million dollars! Since then there have been numerous opportunities to find modest evening gowns and the challenge has been daunting. I am not the only one who has dealt with that challenge. I have heard many stories and seen many ladies who have struggled with this same issue. Why designers are determined to produce gowns that are terribly bare and revealing, I will never know. There is a huge market out there for modest evening and pageant gowns - they are missing out. Their oversight is my opportunity. I am now working to provide beautiful, competitive and MODEST gowns for my sisters who are determined to be examples of beauty and virtue. The name of the line is Luminesse Designs. I'll let you know when there's something to look at! :)
A Poem for WIN...
It was such a pleasure to represent the WIN Foundation and its wonderful programs that truly help women! The foundation, the friends I made, and the amazing people involved in the foundation and the Mrs. Globe Pageant will remain close to my heart for many years!...
Lights Upon the Shore
A glimmer of light shone
Through the darkened night.
A sight so dreamt of,
So hoped for, so right.
It couldn’t be real,
I’d been fooled before.
And yet it was a light—
My way back to shore.
Yet my heart was tired,
My mind and soul were yearning.
Feelings of loss and sadness
Forever, had been burning.
Did I really even exist?
Did my life have any meaning?
Why couldn’t I just disappear?
All hope had gone for belonging.
But the light was real,
With an all-consuming peace.
I felt arms enfolding ‘round me
And the tears began to release.
Foreign feelings of safety
Discernibly were growing.
No longer could I deny it,
Because my light began glowing.
Although healing continues,
My soul is growing stronger.
My purpose is coming clear,
There are others who still hunger.
It’s up to me to share that hope,
To ease a burden, to strengthen a heart.
Now I am that light upon the shore,
And I will do my part.
